Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Certification Training

LPI has developed two vendor neutral Linux certifications for experienced system and network administrators at the intermediate and advanced levels, LPI Level 1 and LPI Level 2.

LPI Level 1 Certified Professionals will be able to:

  • Work at the UNIX command line, and perform routine maintenance tasks such as helping users, adding users to a larger system
  • Perform backups and restores and perform shutdowns & reboots
  • They should be able to install and configure a workstation and connect it to the LAN, or connect a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet

To gain the LPI Level 1 you need to pass two exams. The letters listed on the right hand side of the exam description refer to the HOTT courses relevant for that exam.

LPI Level 1 Certification Curriculum
A. UNIX/Linux Fundamentals 4 days
B. Linux System Administration 5 days
LPI Level 1 Certification Certification Exams
Exam LPI 101 - General Linux Part 1 (A, B)
Exam LPI 102 - General Linux Part 2 (A, B)

LPI Level 2 Certified Professionals will be able to:

  • Administer a small to medium-sized site
  • Plan, implement, maintain and troubleshoot a small network
  • Advise management regarding issues such as automation and purchases

To gain the LPI Level 2 you must first complete LPI Level 1 as well as pass two additional exams. The letters listed on the right hand side of the exam description refer to the HOTT courses relevant for that exam.
